And a couple more from the 60's. (I've got quite a few!)

BunchChilternRR'69.jpg

Chiltern road race '69 (I think it might have been a 2 or 3 day event?) on one of those vicious little climbs that prevail there. I think it is Geoff Wiles leading with 2 lads from Birmingham following. Second place MIGHT be Alan Lloyd and the guy in the specs suffering is Paul ---?

EllesmereProRace'67.jpg
Prior to the start of the Ellesmere pro race 1967. Some well known riders there. From the left Mick Coupe, Pete Chisman, Dave Bonner, Martin Filmer, Mick Coward. I was machine examiner and some of the bikes were in a right state!
FinishChilternJohn Winstanley 1969.jpg
Finish of a Chiltern area race with John Winstanley winning in '69. Quite a distance from the actual line, he was very confident in his ability! I think it could be Alan Clark Ross Whs. second? I met John in 2012 in the middle of France watching Brad's tour. Hadn't seen him since this photo.

Merseyside Wheel Race finish (1965/66?). Doug Dailey Kirkby CC outsprinting Pete Buckley Oldham RC. My Mate Chris appears to be holding the crowd control string to keep back the hoards of spectators :D

JewellSargeantChilternRR'69.jpg

Ian Jewell and John Sargent Chiltern RR 1969. On the same hill as the first photo. I think they were away as a break.

Still a few more in the files from the era. If you're interested that is................................

Found some more.

Skelmersdale pro RR 1965. I know the guy - but can't remember his name! (John ??) If it's who I think it is he came from the Nottingham area.

Skelmersdale again. Billy Perkins on the right, a real hardman Liverpool rider. Rode against him in a few local events when he was still amateur but he was way above my ability!

EDIT - just remembered the finish of the (I think) Merseyside Wheel Race around '65/66. He was rolling around in the gutter with Ken Nuttall, scrapping over an 'incident' in the sprint.

HaworthRRmid70sKevinSayles.4.jpg

Early 70's road race above Haworth near the top of the longish climb out of Haworth. The guy in front is Kevin Sayles (Bradford RCC) the frame builder who later was Woodrup's builder. He started as an apprentice with Bob Jackson early 70's. Not sure if it is a Jackson he's riding - but he probably built it himself. No idea who the other guy is - but someone will know! Check out the cars!

PaulGittinsSidLovattBookerRR1968.jpg

Booker RR near Maidenhead/Windsor early 1968. The serious looking guy in the helmet is yours truly. This was the first RR I had ridden for my 'new' club, High Wycombe CC, after I moved there late '67. The rider next to me is Sid Lovatt, Finsbury Park CC, another 'hardman' but from North London. I got into the break with him and 5 others but he used his racecraft (and superior talent!) to ride me out of it. The break stayed away. I never forgave him and told him so (in a nice way of course!) when I met him again in 2012 at the TdF along with John Winstanley. They were sharing a campervan parked alongside the route of the final TT.
