Indeed he was. Saw him a couple of times flying past in the opposite direction when I was out cycling between 1994-1997 (when I was in college) around the lanes of Kent/East Sussex. He was like an express train!!!Yates was a big lad.

Falling over/getting off was common before the gearing got alot lower. Nowadays; even when it is wet there will only be dismounts if a chain ships, or they have bunched up some. Tyres might grip better now, too, with some more science in the compounds.
