Road bike dropout hanger problem - someone to fix in Brighto

I'm new to this forum. I am looking at rebuilding my Gazelle steel bike back to its former glory. I managed to pull out the rear derailleur a year or so ago and changed it to a single speed. I'm looking at trying to change it back to a geared bike. I am going to try and save the current dropout with a dropout saver but if not does someone know if who could braise a new dropout onto the back in the Brighton area then that would be fab.

What is the specific problem with the current dropout? If the derailleur hanger has been cut off then there is a simple solution because early Campagnolo Nuovo Record rear mechs (as well as many other derailleurs) came with detachable hangers like the one in the attached photo. This is an ideal solution because the steel hanger is bent so the derailleur mounts in the correct position under the drop.

In response to your other query, yes you can braze a new dropout onto a frame. It is a pretty easy procedure for a skilled frame builder, although you have to source the drop. Also it will cost several hundred dollars/pounds and the rear of the frame will need to be refinished.

One of the above works pretty well if the threads are wrecked on the dropout and you drill it out......

Is that what you mean?

Be carful to drill out the dropout in line with the original or get someone with a drill-stand to do it, Helps make sure the rear mech stays in the original position and not sticking out at an angle...
