This is a lovely bike, and as you say so rare in that size. All the ones I've ever been offered have been 21" or bigger! If you built it with period components initially, and entered it in Botm, I would vote for it no problem. After that, put what you like on it, it's your bike!

Me too.. Can't believe I own one now since Catalog size 18" is smallest.

I think so, from record on http://oldmountainbikes.com/bikes/ look like from 87-90 around 11 Super comp frames were made in 16", Thank for your vote in advance .. I still keep all component intact except ( BB and Head set I have to look for replacement) ... For now I ride..
