Riser bars - why? - discuss!

RISER bars

not keen on risers myself, flatter the better for me.
i can see a 'comeback kid' in there with risers.as illustrated by LGF,risers have always been there but seen a major resurrection late 90's ealy 2k.
i bought a 2000 marin bear valley with risers and removed them in favour of
some flats.
somehow made the bike look sharper imho.

Dont need riser bars or bar ends just anther sales pitch for the companies telling people what they need

Eh :? Well at some point that sales pitch said you needed flat bars if you look at the bikes featured by LGF

It isn't at that angle any more, that was just thrown together to get a pic, in fact I've even gone the whole hog and changed it for a flite just to complete the uncomfortable riding style that was the early 90s.

Is the stem on this saracen specific? ive got one with a realy strange stem diameter.... but never knew it was saracen... think i got it at a bootsale as it just looks cool

I've never been a fan of riser bars. I remember when they became fashionable as a flat bar replacement (early 90's ??). Think they were described as offering more control for manovering over rough terrain etc.

I weigh a lot so do like the security of a heavy old protaper/azonic/hellbent etc...

However, none of my bikes has a riser at the mo...
