Riser bar or riser stem?

This 35 year old Shogun has a very small frame , however using most of the standard seat post and fitting
a riser stem ( Suntour copy ) with some riser bars has resulted in a very comfortable riding position which
is easily adjusted to suit a smaller rider if required

I would say possibly both. If you go too far with the riser bar it will have leverage in offroad situations and could rotate in the clamp. On my XC bike I went from a drop stem to a sit up stem that was shorter. The already quick handling became unstable and I had to add a 1* angle headset to get it back under control. It seems the long low stem had my forward weight providing some self centering that went away with the new position.
