Do the Ringle (now Sun/Ringle) cages now fall out of any Patents ?
Are they official reproductions ?

Did you ask the bloke (Geoff Ringlé) if you could make them ?

yawwwwwwn BORING!

They're only questions  while Silver one come to the market
wonder if £19 + £6.30 shipping falls below our customs taxes ?

sorry wasnt a dig or ewt! as for the taxes, i dint know about that new rule of £15! was £65 last time i bought from the usa

Thats what i thought £65 to £70 spent over £70 worth not that long ago not marked as Gift on the parcel with out any text charge

Lucky you!

I bought something for $20, the seller filled it in as worth $30 and because they also charge customs on the shipping I ended up paying £30 charges.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Part of the enjoyment of retro is trying to track down that elusive part. Plus how to tell in the future whether a cage is a genuine Ringlé one or not? Or maybe that doesn't matter. Anyway - I'm conflicted.

Completely understood. This is the reason why we changed the design slightly as opposed to making an exact "copy." The cut of the top and bottom edges curve inward towards the centerline slightly as opposed to being straight across. Also, they were polished prior to anodizing so they have more of a mirror finish instead of a brushed look. This way you can always tell them apart. They're definitely not for everyone, only those people who maybe aren't willing to spend $75+ on a cage ;)

Ok, so it wasn't "customs charges", it was "import VAT" on the product and the shipping plus whatever fixed charge they add.

I was about to order a couple of these and found that no hardware is included with it - L shaped bit etc.
errrr what's the point in them if you are only getting half a bottle cage?

lol

Silver or Clear Anodising is exactly he same process except without using the dye. It shouldn't cost you any more!

Out of interest what purple dye are you using and by what manufacturer?

As soon as you get the L bracket sorted and silver I am definitely in for a couple - purple and silver :D

you do not need the L thingy perse. The cage is a littlebit adjustable. You can set it so that the bottom part is a bit tighter than the top and in this case the bottle wont fall through, even without the L thing.

Sorry, that sounds more like a bodge to make it work. The original design came with the right L shape thing so if expect it on this one. It'd look odd without it anyway.

I remember BiTD my friend bought an H2O and deliberately left the L-piece off (no, I don't know why) and it held bottles solidly with no issues at all. In fact, there was less movement than with my 'normal' cage.
TBH, I seriously doubt the majority of H2Os are actually used to carry bottles anyway...
