Rims with hairline cracks around eyelets

So I guess these should be written off? There are little cracks like this in several places on both wheels.

The camera makes it look worse then it is, but I'm resigned to the fact they're for the bin

No, the camera shows just how bad the cracks are. I like others thought when I saw then title I was going to be looking at the little spiders legs you get round the eyelets. That's plain dangerous.

yeurgh.....hmmm..yep, write-offs I am afraid. I had a spoke let go in a 16-spoke 105 road set after a tiny but deep (and unseeable) pothole....BANG!!! Pretzelled wheel which jammed against the chainstay, locking up completely. If I had been going above 30kph or going round a tight curve it would have been ‘interesting’ to try to keep control.

Yeah, I'm annoyed with myself, I bought them a few months ago and they've been stored in the shed un-used. They were a bit grubby and it was only when I cleaned them yesterday that I noticed.

At least you spotted it before you used them, could have ended up very griefy.

Gosh no one should be selling you things with defects like that. I know the whole ‘buyer beware’ thing, but really, it’s just not right to sell things which have dangerous defects. People do do it though, time and time again. Not right.
