Rim painting??

Has anybody ever done or considered doing this?

Been looking for a tidy pair of black rimmed wheels but every pair i find are not suitable for one reason or another.. when suddenly i thought "i've got numerous spare sets but silver.... why not paint a pair of those!!!"

Eureka!!!

Is it a crazy idea?

Current thinking is mask up spokes and nipples, etch prime and finish with satin Smootherite.

Slightly off topic but how expensive are we talking in terms of some black wheels? I’ve got a cheap but mint set of black Bontrager Camino with black spokes and black hubs that are £20 for pair

Had seen your wheels but looking for a specific set up.. XT730 hubs with black Araya rims. I have a silver pair of Araya RM400 pro that wish to paint.

I'd suspect that the first time you showed them a tyre lever or brake pad you'd find out whether it worked.
