Rigid suspension forks on Marin '99

Hi

Newbie needing some advice. I picked up an mint Eldridge grade - Lime green with Thron tubing.

It's a great, lightweight bike - but over the winter I tend to ride on costal paths around here (Seaford, near Brighton). Would like to replace the Manitou Spyder R forks with something light & rigid.

Has anyone done this before? Do you know what spec / size I'm looking for?

Going to paint them to match the colour scheme.... don't want to ruin the look of the bike :)

Thanks

Simon

Re:

Yes, you can fit a rigid fork to the bike.
Where it gets complicated is that you need to make sure they are 'suspension corrected', to suit the geometry of the frame.

The Spyders on your Marin have 80mm travel. (According to: http://www.bikesdetails.info/Marin_Eldr ... _1999.html)

Therefore you need rigid forks that are 80mm suspension corrected.
And you also need them to have a 1 1/8” threadless steerer - and have mounts for v-brakes.

I found these eXotic carbon forks on eBay, which fit the bill - but you won't be able to paint them blue: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/eXotic-Rigid- ... 2395677313
