Rigid fork length - Advice please

Help please. I’m wanting to fit some Salsa Cromoto or similar rigid forks to a 1997 GT Avalanche frame I got recently. The frame is 16” (centre of top tube to centre of bottom bracket), 21.5” top tube length and a head tube of 110 mm. The original suspension fork would have been less than 100 mm I guess – more like 75 to 80. The guy who sold me the frame said he’d been running similar forks with an axle to crown dimension of 455 mm. Does this sound about right to maintain the geometry?.

410-440 would get you in the ballpark. 455 would slacken the head angle too much IMHO.

I have 440s to give correct geometry (give or take) for my 80mm travel HT frame.
