This bike and ridevintagemtb's build needs no introduction.
Mike and I have been friends for a long time and went to college together in Durango via Fort Lewis back the late 90's. Those rides with Mike and the rest of our Durango crew is where my passion for cycling began. This frame hung in Stonehouse Subs where we used to stuff our faces after rides and drool over the mtb memorabilia on the walls.
I was honored when Mike offered this bike up for sale to us this summer for our museum. Since the museum is primarily composed of vintage bikes with racing history, this bike was an obvious fit. His detailed restorations raise the bar and showcase not only his extensive knowledge of mountain bike racing's history but also his extensive relationships in the industry, that without, this restoration would never have been possible.
ridevintagemtb's original build thread came be found here: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... issy+giove.
I'm posting our own photos of the bike here so we can enter this bike in honor of Mike's detailed build and hard work.
I will also be posting a 10 minute interview we did with Mike about the build and the work that went into it. You can look for that video here on this thread once it finishes getting uploaded. Mike walks us through each part and the what / where / why and when.
