Hi all,

im 191.5cm tall and im wondering if i am better suited to a 19" or a 21" when it comes to specialized frames, some of the earlier frames ive seen have 20" and 22" ...

little bit confused, dont want to buy a frame and build it up to find out its too small or too big for me...

any advice?

the reason i ask is because i never seem to come across the larger retro frames

absolute mimimum would be 20 in. rough rule of thumb is 1/3 your height for road bike then subtract another 5 inches for mtb frame.

it is also a matter of personal preference, may people ride undersized frames as hey are easier to manoevre.

the top tube is the important measurement.

likewise many people ride on oversized frames but these tend to be the ones who don't know any better namely on tesco, argos and halfords bikes.

I'm 5'11" (approx180cm) and ride a 19" Stumpy(it's modern though) if this helps , my MF and E3 are also 19" (centre BB to top seat tube) and all have about a 23" ish TT (horizontal length).
