Reynolds 753 tubeset

Is anyone still building 753 frames? I've got the chance of a full build 753 tube set including Campagnolo ends and all the accessories for a full construction. Boxed!

Anyone experience of building a 753 based frame?

No, there's nothing mitred. But I can get a loan of the tools to do it. I've got a brazing up bench already. I've built 5 frames so far, but never in 753 which is supposed to be more technically tricky.

Anyone with experience of 753 I'd love to hear from you!

Choose an appropriate braze and flux, and If you prep a couple of tubes, you should end up with enough offcut material to practice v with and get a feel for how it all flows.
you know how practice is the key to competence in brazing.

Jeez I was just doing some stainless - what a stupid idea🤣

Silver soldered. Not sure you can braze 753, but happily corrected

That's probably true - I'm using "fillet brazed" to lazily refer to the method rather than the filler material.

I was imagining you'd look up suitable flux and filler with Reynolds or a Framebuilding supplier.

753 is silver soldering only as far as I’m aware having spoken to Pongo back in the 80’s & Norris Lockley of Bespoke fame…& its pretty difficult to master

I'm going to have a chat with a local frame builder/repairer mid week. I reckon with the experience I've already got I could put one together.. It won't be SBDU though hahaha 🤣 😂
