RR Merlin
Dirt Disciple
My frame from March 2001.
Anthony Revell had just begun his frame co. here in UK and agreed to build me a custom 24"rear, 26" front. My version of the Brooklyn Park bike.
I then had the brassneck to tell him that his current headtube design was'nt strong enough, so can he build stronger! Amazingly he said yes.
So headtube ends were ring reinforced and with a large downtube gusset*.
Also, seattube was sleeved like on a DeKerf, just because it looked cool.
Tubing is Columbus floval, and i think its welded up by Revell Snr.
And it rode great. 6.25 lbs weight and to fit my old RST Delta fork, but the steerer bent after a while so i fitted this Marzo DJ.
But its too long and heavy, weighs the same amount as the frame.
Last rode this ten years ago and the last image is what inspired me to contact Revell.
Great bikes, i think the first co. to build a steel 24 specific frame.
* Original, a plate gusset between the tubes.
