RetroJIMs Kona Lava Dome

I collected this today for £80. It's a 20" 1994 Lava Dome. The wheels are shot and forks are seized but they don't come up in this size very often so I jumped at the chance.

Not sure what I'm doing with it yet. I think I'll see how the other parts clean up first.

Seat post isn't stuck! Got to be a first for me for one of these sold as seen purchases. Sadly it's not original - a Club Roost Go Fast G4 which I'm not familiar with. It seems quite light and isn't damaged so I'll use it.

So initial assessment

Original parts that will clean up and can be used

Frame
Handlebars
Brake Levers
Shifters
Brakes
Chainset
Derailleurs

Non-original parts that are OK but nothing special

Stem
Forks (after rebuild)
Seat Post
Pedals
Headset
Hubs (maybe)

Parts that are only good for the bin

Rims cracked around eyelets
Tyres perished
Grips completely worn out
Saddle ripped


So what to do

If you are anything like me it will go something like this...

Find some new wheels, £50,

Fit new tyres and tubes, £40,

New grips and saddle £20.

Advertise for £200 to make £10 profit.

No takers, drop price to £150

Still no takers.

Move to the back of the garage along with the other bikes in the collection.
