Retrobike resolutions 2025?

1) Ride more

2) Clear the clutter and sell the stuff I'm just not going to use

3) Accept that as I get older I can't do the things I used to, but that doesn't mean I can't spend time enjoying the things I can - which in this case is riding the quiet country lanes and bridlepaths on my cross bike, and exploring pubs and tearooms on the way

At some point in January 2025 I'm gonna get my moody arse off the sofa go out to the cold shed and cable the gears to the correct shifters (this time), then attach the brakes and get a ride in.
I can neither confirm or deny that this halfwit is responsible for the incorrect cabling, although the fact that I threw the f'kin thing in the shed in disgust during my tantrum kinda tells its own story...

With the start of a new part time job just a week ago I'll try not to set too many goals other than to succeed in my job and to enjoy myself.
A few benefits to come with this new job is to be able to commute on my GT bikes, though of late it has been a choice between my 1992 Bravado and my 2011 Zaskar Sport but I will make an effort to take my other GT's for a ride too!
I will make a point of sorting through my spare parts and see what I can sell to clear out.
Also, my new employer is considerate enough to schedule my Rota around my volunteering project, also involving bikes. So I am considering myself lucky to be involved in bikes as I found my passion for bikes has helped me get through a bout of depression after losing my previous job 3 years ago.
😁
As for the other benefits of cycling to work and volunteering is losing some weight and improved state of mind!
I have tried very hard not to look at other projects to start this year or in the new year as I should content with what I have but it's fun to look for new projects and quite hard to resist!

I feel quite good about how last year went as I achieved most of what I wanted.

In 2025 I'd like to....
-finish putting together my Curtis RaceLite 24
-finish painting and assemble my Z1 QR20 forks
-apply finishing touches to my Curtis SuperX
-make a start on my Kona Entourage project
-continue selling the parts I don't need
-get a new bike rack for the car
-try get out and ride a bit more

Non bike related.....
-work out my sailing dinghy problem, maybe sell my Enterprise and get a single handed boat instead
-get the kids into skiing or snowboarding

Hopefully going to be a good year.

One goal for 2025 only (it has actually been my goal for 24 but there we go): learn how to build wheels A to Z.

For the rest, I would love to spend more time riding the bikes I own than keep tinkering with them.

I also miss a road bike to just get back some of my roadie feelings and enjoy the countless rides available in Belgium.

2024 brought about BIG changes for my family:
New home
New country
New school and friends for our boy
New dog
New campervan

After spending 30 years in London we moved late 2023 back to my home country of Wales to have more family time and a better quality of life.

Sadly 2024 has been quite a testing year for numerous reasons. The biggest being our boy who has failed to get the support he needs in school and has also been exposed to bullying pretty much everyday  . To round off the year about 2 weeks ago my boss told us all we're being made redundant. So for the first time in my professional career I'll be a freelancer which is quite daunting as most of the work is all London based as I work in the creative industry... 😬

2025 involves the start of full house renovation so lots of upheaval including the whole garage contents going into storage as the side extension is all based on building the biggest garage space as possible! 💪😍

Have lots of bike builds ready and waiting due to lack of time and space including a Slingshot and a Titan 1/2 Trac. Once we come out the other side of the house works I really look forward to posting some progress on some bike builds as well as creating a decent workshop space that will get used for pleasure and my work. 😁

Already doing some freelance work as need to hit the ground running!!! 🤞

BRING ON 2025 as 2024 can f**k right off as far as I'm concerned...
