RetroBike gone quiet..

One of my bikes still wears its original Alivio - it works, I have no reason to change it.

The lack of a National series and stickers doesnt help either.

Its positively raining bikes for me at the moment. Lots of usable late 90's early 2000's full suspension around.

Expanded out and discovered road bikes.... NEVER! I'd rather walk, the very idea.

Hadn't even realised that. Once upon a time me and my pals (neither of which come on here much any more) and I used to try to get to some nationals and had plans to do loads more in the future. Shame as the Big Dirty Weekender used to be a right laugh.

I guess this sort of place relies on a number of people going above and beyond therefore dragging the rest of us along. The 'above and beyonders' are noticeable by their absence from the forum these days.

I suppose its just a natural cycle, and maybe its slightly different up here in macretro land. I still see the same guys out riding but quite often its at singlespeed rides, fatbike rides etc. Our Fatbike team at the Strathpuffer had three of us from retrobike, but we ride fatbikes and singlespeeds together at different places and with different crowds. They were Gil and Dr S, who are not on here as often either.
Forth Fat at North Berwick had a good few retrobiker members in attendance but not representing retrobike if that makes sense.
Some of the earlier macretro crowd we dont see that often as people naturally drift away but also I think the majority of the macretro crew are now down on the Fife area so most rides are based towards that area, rightly so but thats a 5 or 6 hour drive for me. So some of the newer members who are often at rides wont see me that often so probably assume I'm not active with macretro.
Its a hard one to work out and is most likely aneeding differing solutions in different areas.
I am based up north and we have had a few new members in the Inverness area which is great, so I along with epicylo have tried to include and invite them to any runs we may be going to such as Dunkeld and we recently had a road ride at Bonar Bridge to Ledmore only the weekend before last.
I would say no matter where you are just put a run on and get the word out, road or off road, film night, pub dinner, anything really and see who comes.

I do think the forum has really slowed down this year.
