Ahh, the Goodwood Festival of Speed
Me and a friend used to go quite a bit, he is a classic car fanatic and talked me into it one year. It was before the accident in the woods and you were able to stand next to the road. After that it was never the same, barriers were put up and the whole thing went commercial
originally they had a Champagne tent, instead of a beer tent
Best part used to be the pits, you could literally lean on a car as it was worked on and started etc, many did, there were no restrictions, even when the F1 cars visited,
WOW, being stood next to a Ferrari F1 car when it is started is an experience i will never forget, the noise was immense. Also met a few famous types, Rowan Atkinson who always had something extrodinary to drive, jamiroquai who used to fly around the pits on a gold plated monkey bike, never spoke to him though, and also met Carl Fogerty when the bikes were allowed there and the full Ducati team turned up
the other great thing is that every car there goes up the hill, even the super rare one-offs, of which there were many, all go up.
Good times, which brings me eventually to the point
, yes i would be into going again and helping out if needed. I have no prototypes though, and the only race bike i have is the one raced by the legend which is me :xmas-big-grin:
