Retro SanFran/California/Marin holiday advice needed...!!!

Most bike shops in Marin rent decent MTBs. Mt Tam is 5 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge-if you can make it to Fairfax, I'll take you on a ride. Pat

Thanks for the reply Pat, probably wont make it any further than MtTam as I'll be strapped for time and wont be sure I'll make it out until I get there but thanks, and would surely be the Monday when most people are working, I'll bring some cycling gear with me now though as MtTam sounds close enough and I've googled a few rental places...just one thing though, are the MtTam trails easy enough to find your way around, or would there usually be a few people up there on a Monday that I could probably follow.

This time of year, there are almost always some people on the mountain. Just go up Railroad Grade from Mill Valley and it will take you to the top of the mountain-great views all around!

i'm still hoping to get out your way, the only time off i have available at the moment is (would you believe) early december for 2 weeks. i know i'll beable to afford it then but wondering what the weather would be like at that point. i was gutted when the OWMTBC didn't happen so i think i should make my pilgrimage at some point soon.

i'd love to ride the whole area, all the famous trail names (aswel as with the famous names if possible, that includes you Pat)

Hey, if the weather co-operates, you can make your dreams a reality! I always get in rides in December-usually quite a few, and remember, it is quite a bit warmer here most times.

I'm in Sac and have ridden Muir area all too little. If there was ever a chance to get into a FairfaxPat guided RB ride I'd definitely be interested.

how warm is warm? over here in december it'd be full on leggings and a jacket. basically i have 18 days off in july, but that is earmarked for the alps, then i have 18 days off at the end of september early october but i have a wedding i must be at that is right in the middle so a proper holiday is out but i also have 18 days off in early december with nothing spoken for it yet so was thinking either the US or NZ, it's by no means definite yet just a thought at the back of my mind and i should be able to afford it.

i'd love to ride with you guys though, i'd probably come over on my own, i'm happy traveling on my own, you can do whatever you want whenever you want with out having to worry about what someone else needs or wants to do.

Weather depends on the year, it's usually between 45-60 F. in the afternoons in December-Knickers and a long sleeve jersey, with maybe a vest and long finger gloves will usually suffice for me on the colder days-last December was a drought and it felt like Fall all month, with no rain and warm temps in the 55-65 F. range.

 

[Repack Rider]

I have escorted so many UK riders to the Repack course that I think they should be able to add something to their name to indicate that they have been there, similar to the Islamic tradition of adding "Haj" to the name after a pilgrimage to Mecca.

Just last week it was Chris Field of the Repack Bicycle Clothing company, and he left "Repack" jerseys for me and for Joe Breeze. Help Chris out and buy a few jerseys so he can afford to come back.

And let me know when you will be here. I have a few extra bikes and there is a rumour that I know the trails around here.
