retro rc cars...............

wow that's going well so far, I came across it looking for a buggy for my sons xmas and saw your name.

Anyone got recommendations for a cheap starter buggy - well instucted kit or rtr- I've been looking at the 4wd ansmann master smacker and the HPI brama 10b - basically got up to £150 for everything, not a lot I know.

Tamiya or HPI would be my choice, though it might be an idea to go for one of the smaller, micro scales (1/16th ~ 1/18th) available from most manufacturers.

wish I's seen your bit about the charger before I bought :) I ended up going for a RTR Maverick from Modelsport ...

Couple of friends still race but even by middle aged men's wages is becoming ridiculous in their words, Lith batteries and brushless motors but wow How FAST they are now is unreal. had a go of my mates RC10 B4 and thought I needed glasses but it was just so quick it was out of sight in as flash!! Still good fun though :D

i still race RC buggys, mainly 8th nitro & some 10th electric, both offroad.
the shop i use & can recommend is http://www.m-k-racing.com/
he'll always try to do a deal & is usually able to price match & check in free postage etc ;)

the dude races himself so unlike a Hornby & scalextric modelshop he actually knows his stuff ;)

Tamiya kits are most peoples first experience of RC but if you wanted to race seriously they aren't very well supported in the UK & the TRF racing models aren't even imported :!:

Just finished this 1989 Tamiya Egress.. had one BITD that was ran into the ground and finally died about ten year ago. This one has been built as a shelf-queenie but so so tempted to let her see mud and jump!
