retro or disc?

Imagine you have just invented the rim brake and you are talking to the lawyers at Health and Safety.
H.A.S; "So what happens as it wears down?"
YOU; "Well the rim becomes thinner until it peels apart or collapses..."
H.A.S.; "They will sue our a$$3$ off"

Haha! Good point! When my rim failed, unbelievably I was not riding the bike at the time. The pressure from the tyre alone was enough to burst through the metal. BAANG!!! Deafeningly loud noise followed by sharp strands of metal pinging out all over the place.

Not enough to put me off rim brakes, but next time I get a pair of rim brake wheels I'll be going for some Mavic Ceramics!

I'm not against rim brakes, they work fantastic.
It's just when you step back and think about the long term logic of discs....
(never mind the obvious benefit of wet conditions, down hill power, life of a wheel)

i think discs on a retro look gash. cantis work well if set up properly i have some on my 93 fire mountain.

it came with v brakes but they just didnt look right so i swapped them for lx cantis.

disc brakes work better no dispute there, but before discs were invented we used cantis and vs, and made them work!

cantis for retro, discs for modern.
