He doesn't actually recommend straightening a fork, he says "If a fork is bent just replace it" Just did it to demonstrate, which is fine obviously.

@M_Chavez - you will need to make a judgement call. In fairness we don't know about the scale of damage or which plane the damage is on.

Bending round or oval tubes to begin with is pretty specialist with formers etc. to avoid creases and potential rupture points.
