Retro Full Suss - The good, the bad and the ugly?

Glad to see you have joined the massed ranks of Proflex. They really are some bike and look fantastic. I am really pleased with mine. Marmite is the way to go!

Right, so Turner licensed the FSR patent and modified the set-up in '97 and came up with an 'ICT' design. Ellsworth then get a patent on the ICT design despite Turner's prior art and start suing Turner over something which Turner basically invented?

Lovely

Getting off topic a little, but yes thats it in a nutshell.

But remember we are only talking US patents here. None of this applies in the real world as HL etc etc are all existing designs from other applications before being used in mountain bikes.

Anyway all Turners are great rides and beautifully made :)

In about 1997-99 Haro made a lovely single pivot bike and Diamond Back (DBR) made a Faux Bar which were ridden my friends of mine.

Both of these bikes were amongst the best and least well known functional full-suss bikes available.

If you can track one of these down it should be a bargain since almost nobody will know how good they are.

A friend of mine has one of the DBR's sitting in his garage (frame and a few other bits only). It was a great bike and he loved every minute of owning it, but in the end struggled to find the bushes when they wore out. Having said that i bet BETD could find something.

late 90s superlight is the best full sus xc bike ever built!! fact. :D

mongoose make a version very similar to this. the wing elite/comp/pro series

Picked up the Proflex, just got back. The seller seemed a nice, genuine bloke.

It's in decent nick, the frame is about 60% covered in Helicopter Tape which I'll be getting the Hair Drier to as it's quite dirty and oily looking. The cables could do with changing and the gears setting up properly and there are a couple of rusty bolts, but there doesn't seem to be anything major. The suspension at both ends seems ok too.

I'll take some pics and post up in another thread when I'm home in proper daylight.

RTS is one of the best looking and best riding XC full suspension bikes of its time.

Period.

It is a classic.
