Retro frames with twin down-tubes?

Amp Research B2(?) aka Mongoose Amplifier and also the Mongoose IBOC Team SX both had split downtubes. Circa '96.

Part of the Advanced Design series... where they played away from the norm to try other things.
A "stiff", elevated design for a steel frame and only a half pound extra in frame weight.

Sadly, that Bugatti's not mine. Apparently it's in the collection of an anonymous French Bugatti collector :shock: Just that one picture.

I know of 3 copies made over the years, one by Art Stump in the US for a UK Bugatti restorer, and a couple of German copies but none of them have the elegance of that original. More pics here.There are drawings in the Bugatti Owner's club HQ, including a tandem version...

I first saw an article about the Art Stump one in Bicycle Magazine back in around 1984 and it's obsessed me since...
