Hi Johnny. Checking out eBay and specialists like Hilary Stone should give you an idea of frames and prices. If you are considering buying a frame to refurbish/renovate then take your time and enjoy the process of searching! There are loads of good frames (and rubbish too mind you :shock: ) out there, but it all depends what your after: touring, Sunday riding, tts, bling or an enjoyable project? Values? You could get lucky and spend £40 and get a real bargain or pay the going rate and spend £300/400. I've done both in the past and am delighted with both frames. But there are lots of other folks out there looking for the same, so be persistent and (when you find it) be quick!

I am enjoying every minute of the search and research, I am looking for a project and for myself as well, So I am looking at a Holdsworth challenger GT 1986 and a R J Quinn. I am not rushing just checking every thing out at the moment.

I have completed Cytech mechanics level one and two course, as I wanted to know (officially) what to do and now I think I have the bug!

My idea is just restore, ride and enjoy. I am leaving the armed forces in September after 25 years so I also thought of keeping fit, enjoyment, and keeping out of my wife's hair in my "shed" All mod cons in there hopefully, I.E. wood burner but shhhhhh don't tell the missus!

I have been thinking about restoring bikes for about 8 years but never had the time or was in this country for long. If the projects make me small coin fine, if they don't hey ho! At this moment in time I am doing the projects for my self.

I have a Whyte 2014 Sussex and a specialized pitch pro 2010 which I have just up grader the group set to shimano Xt, Stripped, chased out the bb, head tube, serviced my folks and re built,I now "get" the felling when you have built you're own bike (so to say).

Of course the GT and the Quinn are very different beasts indeed in almost all respects. Your preference for components (and budget - I know, a dirty word) might have some influence here?
