I bought my 2 MTBs when I was about 50. No thought of a motor then. I'm 71 now. Still doing pretty good, and one of my bikes still has no motor. The lightweight one. It's not necessarily an either or situation. Definitely more miles, and hours, (and miles per hour) on the Ebike.I'm 56, so no spring chicken here either.
But each to their own.
