Hey! Dutch contributed greatly to the mountainbike history. MTB was even renamed 'ATB' for areas with not so much mountains, but still spectacular off road possibilities. There are mountains however.

Just ribbing you, I spent many a happy month in my head office in Oss, but have now swapped it for the majestic scenery of Brussels, Beerse and Dusseldorf -sweet!

I always assumed that the term ATB actually came from the incorrect assumption that 'MTB' and 'Mountain Bike' were owned and copyrighted by Charlie Kelly and Gary Fisher and their company 'Mountainbikes', although CK could probably elaborate more.

Yeti is the bike with the cool racing heritage-cultus and some other the brand related storys and attitude things.

Owned a Pro FRO once and am currently busy acquiring an Ulti. I am kinda spoilt with my flawless Japanese bikes. The Pro FRO looked like built by the monkeys. Hardly acceptable and a complete laugh. With a Serotta built Yo or a Phoenix I do not have the idea I miss much qualitywise, but the Yeti I appreciate for the cultus and I keep my eyes off the detailing. Make a nice colour composition, take a few steps back and it looks good.

I have never been in Oss. Not one of the finest places in Holland I believe.

You believe very correctly. Anywhere that makes Dusseldorf seem classy must be bad!

To what details are you referring? I don't doubt it, but I'm just curious

Bar the loop stay and some other Yeti typical odditys it remembered me of a friend's Giant Terrago. It is no step up in buid quality.

A Miyata Century. From 1990, the same year as the c-26 if I remember correctly. The later would collapse under the weight of the gold alone. A legend nonetheless. A true quality bike. No doubt about that.

Loving the Ultimate

was the Ultimate the first E stay type frame available?

I really like the 1 piece stays on Yeti's

I remember P.K. Ripper Bmx's with 1 piece stays

Sadly for Ken Beach, it is not a complete coincidence that the Yeti Ulitimate looked like this

Ken Beach painted a number of Mantis frames and his bikes were well known in the SoCal/MBA world. Poor Ken.

I have one of his bikes and it is amazing.
