Nah, tried that first before I learnt about anodising!
It has definitely stripped the anodising off, just left a greeny tinge. Is fading a little bit now as now, but still different. Wonder if it was a different colour before?
Will see how it goes but not too worried as I would love to put Pace rings on anyway (if I can find the right BCD rings) - the colour might work!
You need to do it again. Use warm water or a stronger mix. Go careful. For any residue use 'OOOOO' grade wire wool (the finest grade available usually used for wood finishing) with soapy water. Do not use anything more abrasive or the polishing takes for ever.
Unless you have access to a bench top polisher with different mops and compounds it is difficult to get a real polished finish.
Have not decided really what to do with them, will depend on what I decide to do to the Frame they are for. Probably polish at this moment in time, but I reserve the right to change my mind a hundred times before I commit.
Anyway, after second go with the Caustic, better, but still some stubborn bits and then lots of polishing. These are fairly well scratched, will have to see how they go...
Looking better, thats what mine came out like to start with,i did manage to get the spider off of mine without damaging it,heres what a few weeks of buffing gets you, still not finished but just to show youre on the right track mate.
Undid the main retaining bolt around the back, and then tapped it off,one of the 3 rivets was snapped so made it easier, have to get that eroded out now
