respray ...

Hi
does anyone know a place which could respray (paint?) my old Raleigh (see my post in this forum).

It's got layers of paint on it from previous owner and I'd like to get an idea what it would cost to get it properly resprayed.

I know I could get it powder coated at a very good price (below £100 in the factory that does all the Brompton folders) but nothing like enamel/laquered?.

I live in Worcestershire, if that's any help (well, it would, wouldn't it  ).

thanks

Martin

thanks for that, have emailed them ... noticed the fod in your ad, take it that's Forest of Dean, used to live there for 7 years :D

Bob Jackson charge £90 for single colour respray. Guess you'd need to post it to them though.

Yes live on the edge of the Forest and lived in Colwall near Malvern as a kid, hence the Ledbury connection.

I guess Bob Jackson would quote for the red / black /yellow Ti-Raleigh team colours and decals which is quite a bit of work........ :)

a pic wouold be nice.

respray

A little paint shop in Brownlow road Berkhamstead Hertfordshire blasted and enameled my 1975 raleigh for £40, and a very good job it is too.

powder coating including dipping and stripping frame, re coating and baking is typically around 50, 100 upwards for single colour non metallic respray; multi colour has to be significantly more , a three colour job is doing the same job three times plus accurate masking etc.
Ifyou have a lot of time on your hands you could try a DIY job with multiple coats of primer, gloss and clear aerosols plus rubbing down with 600 wet and soap between coats and using compatible lacquers, but soooooooooooo time consuming. Best 'bang for bucks' is a dark powder coat as it hides a lot of imperfections and have a go at lug lining in gold modellers enamel with the frame on a bench, just go smoothly and if you get it wrong wipe with a rag moistened in white spirit, then dry rag and start again. :)
