Repairing a TVT frame?

I have seen a very cheap TVT frame for sale. It's very cheap because in the photos the rear mech is on the floor as the the mech hanger/ rear dropout has sheared in two :shock:

Is this deader than a dead thing or is there someone out there who can perform a rear dropout transplant?

No reason why a machinist couldn't make a replacement dropout, however, there's going to be a fair bit of work involved in removing the old pieces of metal and bonding the new dropout in. Would it not be cheaper to keep looking for a frame in better condition?

You are probably right. To be honest I was looking for one of the Ciocc built steel Concordes when I stumbled across the add. If there was a relatively simple fix then all well and good, if not It is not worth the bother.

For 75 Euro that's actually not bad, the paint looks as though it's in good condition. If I were interested I'd probably buy that, get a new dropout made, and fit it myself. Removing the old dropout is the challenge - perhaps you'd have to very carefully drill it out. A carbon repair specialist like Surrey Carbon Repair (for example) would know.

The bigger the screen I look at it on the more worried I get about what may be hiding under the electrical tape: is that just a scratch to the right of the tape or something a little more serious?

If it wasn't a 3 hour ride I would take it for parts and see what I could do with the frame. If you can replace the dropout, build it up, if not, put on the wall.

It is a 54 cm frame so a touch small for me any way.

I have an irrational dislike of the idea of stripping bikes: as this one is effectively "dead" it shouldn't really be a problem...but, oddly, it still is.
