can you tell me the brand of this tyres? they are still available or out of the seventies? thx

Hi

I cannot remember the brand name, they were just a cheap no-name Taiwan brand. They were found on eBay for just £4.99 each. They are ideal for a klunker build as they have no painted branding on the sidewalls, the tread pattern is very oldschool and the shape suits. The rubber is very soft too which translates to lots of grip even on wet roots. They are so grippy I tried them on my modern downhill bike and they were superb. They do wear very quickly though. I will try and find you some later tonight.

Hi Si

thanks for the feedback and I will looking forward to your info about the tyres. I also need it for a klunker project.

great bike dr, looks very new and lots of fun.

Thanks young man. How are you enjoying Retrobike? Any chance of dragging your old man out on a bike in the near future?

It is a heavy old bastard.

I'm looking for a DX frame now as I have enough parts to build a real early skiptooth one speed bomber. Going for a rough patina on the next one so i can ride without fear of marking the lovely paint on this one.

I've always like the clearcoat over the bare metal, to show the welds off and such. Always wondered of you could etch the decals on the metal first before the lacquer.....

I'm thinking more dust and flaking 50 year old paint over rust for the next one rather than laquer. Frame will be as it lands rather than re-finished. Warts and all.
