Rentedmule's KHS Solo One softail

Old School Hero
I've seen a few Solo One threads on here so figured I'd share my recent build. I picked up the frame in excellent condition off Ebay for quite cheap. I had an early 2000's KHS Team hardtail in red/white and had been watching the market for a matching Team ST but never found one. This is probably the same frame with a different paintjob... Anyone know how to identify the model year on these frames?

I had a lot of the parts hanging around from another rebuild. I took it for its maiden voyage a few days ago and was surprised at how fun to ride and 'lively' it felt. It's not particularly lightweight and I'd never ridden a softail before - I expected it to feel a bit dead.

The build list is pretty run of the mill aside from the King "Pretty and Strong" pink headset, which I love. Ringle Black Flag wheels, Fox 125R fork, TRP Spyke cable discs, Stylo ISIS crankset, Thomson 27.0 post (I had to sand out the seat tube to get it to fit, which I take it many others have had to do on these frames), and a Koobie Au Enduro saddle I still had from my FSR Extreme in 1998!

The only thing that needs attention is a ripped rubber seal on top of the 'shock'. I'm assuming I'll never find a replacement for it but if anyone has input, I'd be happy to hear it!

I interested to hear what you think of the ride quality. I've wanted a Moots YBB for years. Then I saw one of these KHS frames on ebay a couple months ago. I think it was a 1999. It was orange. Anyway, I passed on it. I would like to hear from someone with first hand experience.

I'm in the same boat on the YBB, I always loved the idea of them but they were always out of my budget. The ride seems decent thus far, but I'll put a few more miles on it and let you know.
