Recommend me a pedal spanner

I just use a regular spanner from a set of spanners that I use on my car. It's not very long so sometimes it needs quite a lot of force to get the spindle rotating. I think everyone should own a set of spanners of the open-ring type.

I am a fan of Abbey Tools but I'm not convinced their pedal wrench is worth the extra outlay
Agreed, for the 2-3 times a year I need to swap pedals, seems excessive, but would look nice in my tool box

I do frequently use my abbey 4 way wrench and the crank bolt tool.

Ok so I'll have to confess that aesthetics will play a small part in my decision making and that thing is fugly 😂
Yup, no denying that, and just the bare steel cuts into your palm.

I might put an oak handle on mine, maybe Bubinga. It's just two sections curved and glued and screwed on.

That would transform it, no doubt

I have an old standard britool spanner ( pre being crap). (Tape on handle to identify it as a " bodging" spanner, screwdriver, cutters etc) .....

These are game to be hit with hammers, have ridiculous force put on them, wedged and generally abused if needed.

The spanner has a few dents on the other end from hits, but its been around for years.

Car boots are good.....

I was looking for a spanner I could put in my saddle bag for a fixed gear bike last week. I’ve always had an old Snap-On stubby adjustable in there so far unused - went to use it and found it’s not actually got enough leverage to do a track nut. So I started looking for a “fixie wrench” type thing and almost pressed the button. Had a rummage through my non metric box of spanners and found an old Britool double ended, one end fits the 15mm rear track nuts and the other the 17mm front. No idea what imperial size they are but it’s perfect and has just enough length while still fitting in the saddle bag. I was so pleased! Someone has ground off where I think the old MOD markings were though……..

You can aways cut the other end off, then you can slip a bar over it for more leverage.....ive got a few of those too.....
