Nothing fancy, optical zoom x5min, reasonable fast shutter speeds, macro, tripod mount

Anyone got something with the above as standard ?? Those are about me requirements

Im replacing a fuji E510 that has just packed in for some inexplicable reason. Good camera too, not so great on choice of shutter speeds so when taking pics of fellow cyclists you get the back end only  but loads of features you wont normally see in a compact. Very programmable, probably as much as a modern digital slr
Damn shame :(

In fact i think ill have a look and see if i can find another new :? 2008 or 2009 , not that long ago :? must still be about
Same as my mouse, been using the same model and im on the 7th

I have a spare ricoh cx2, have a google and see if it would do.

I am tempted by your CX2, for when mine eventually breaks.
Seems a nice camera[the CX2], not as compact as the Ricoh R7 I was replacing and the
CX2 has a more functions/modes. I like to keep it simple. but it takes quiet good pics and
with the iso turned right down the macro pics aren't bad.
I spent ages tying to decide what camera to get, decided I liked something and looked
on ebay only to find loads of them "for spares", which put me right off.

Mine has been well used but not abused. Have box etc. still takes great pics without issue. Have upgraded to a canon g11 but the cx2 is much smaller and great for point and shoot or control if you have the time. The flip screen on the canon and the degree of control and layout is lovely.

Well, tbh i was looking for something new HM :? But wow, that has the specs doesnt it

This though is more of what i was thinking. Obviously theres been a jump in tech and drop in price as the 510 was £200 and that 650 is now £43

A little to think about but ill probably opt for the above as its new etc.

Thanks for the offer HM. If i needed 2 id love to own that bit of tech

I would avoid the 650 Fuji finepix as after my weekend away i have sent mine back for either an exchange or a refund. When it works it takes reasonable pix and half the time it just takes a blurry mess, this is when its on auto and is in its own detection mode thats meant to be able to adjust to anything. Well most of mine are either bikes standing still or a bit of scenery and this has trouble with both. 90% of things taken with the flash being used are unbelievably blurry.
Mine is only a month or so old and its not a patch on my old Canon 2mp powershot, just a shame its died. I hope they just give me my money back and also refund the extended warranty.
I was on the same budget Andy and thought these looked good.

I will have to see how my aunts getting on with hers my last 4 cameras have been fuji and I had no issues though I normally go for the bridge cameras they do when I tested hers out it seemed alright to me.

Re:

When the pictures work on the Fuji, then they are great but for a point and shoot camera its auto features seem to get it wrong quite a bit. Its just disappointing as you lose what might otherwise have been good shots. Like my old Canon, the Fuji lives on the bike really and like last week on Orkney to have basic shots not just out of focus but really blurry is a bummer.
It could well just be something going on with my one and they will replace it. I should know soon anyway.

Thanks to all :D

Bought the replacement :D
Opted for a Ricoh HZ15
Cost £90 in a specialist camera shop of note and reputation (Quiggs of Glasgow) I know i paid a bit more and could have got it cheaper online, but i like using actual shops as it keeps them in business and any problems with the camera its very easily returned.
