Recent Pace purchase , info requested if possible please

Re: Recent purchase , info requested if possible please

link to my old frame in the Pace thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=20895&hilit=Pace&start=360

mine was WR18156 with 1 1/8" headtube so RC200 F6 if disc tabs added at same time as BB shell replacement or RC200 F7 if fitted from new.

ooh looks like the database needs updating as still showing me as the owner

Re: Recent purchase , info requested if possible please

If you put PACE in your title you would get a more targeted response not just casual browsers.

Hey guys and thanks for all your help - I chatted to Adrian at PACE today

He seemed to think the following from the pictures I sent him

I would say headtube ia 1 1/8" not 1".

Frame looks like an F8 (later model) except chainstay disc mount tells a different story so not too easy to identify- particularly with unusual BB frame no.
Have you removed plastic cable guide to reveal more of frame no?

Perhaps its had a complex history and been back for repair and reanodise hence mix of colour and framestyle/no.

Can't really date it though.

The serial number is WR18156
Great that its kept in the family of carers :) I bought it from a guy in his 60's that is a keen rider and has been using it in france for a while

I also learnt that red was the colour used for bikes made for the Italian market, Silver for Germany and Racing green for us Brits!

Here are some pictures

Which part of it doesn't look like an F7.

It just doesn't have the machining 3 butts the F8 has in the main tube, compared to the two this has and many of the other weight saving features the catalogue doesn't' show them though

But here (of many is an F:cool: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=52323
Notice the 3rd extra milling in the main tubes, the milling in the headtube.
The different position of the disc tab
The lack of canti brake rocker 'holder' in the wishbone stay

Really though, put PACE in your title to get the PACE people in, else it's just us bumbling lets have a look in there people ;)

Dont laugh. I'm a bit out of touch with mountain bikes. My last was a 2005 Kona Stuff

Living in London has pushed me onto fixies so i moved my interest onto Track bikes. My last shock were some 2008 Marzocchis, but they were damn heavy!
Not sure which sue forks to go for, would be nice to use Pace - suggestions ready . . .

I don't really hammer it anymore so something that will take out the pot holes and not weigh a tonne would be ideal.

I kept my Rear Hope C2 , so thats going on the back. Possibly gonna remove the front mech and keep it to just 7 speed at the rear
Front disc if I can, other wise some Hydraulic rimmers

Seat - Ill try n get an old school flight

Stubby stem, low riser bars, might go again for the Hope hubs as I had the front one last time and they are so nice and light.

Thats it so far really. Hoping to get as much as I can 2nd hand

Wow, great score, lots of good info here, I'd have guessed anything from an F6 to an F8 dating it between 1999 to 2002 or there abouts.

Never knew WR corresponded to Warranty Repair, good to know :)

Like the idea of your build, agree Hope Hubs would go very well, have you considered RC31 carbon rigid forks nice and light with a little vibration dampening?

Cheers

Rich

my old f6 had that style dropout/disc tab on the opposite chainstay. the through axle looks custom but done very well.

possible f6 team edition frame?
