its taken me a few months of watching auctions, won this one recently for a price a lot less than I expected!

I would love to know a little more about this as what I thought I knew seems to may not be correct. I was under the impression that the RC200 / 300 were produced in the early 90's and that the red 200 was a limited edition production run?
Then after watching that recent RC300 sell I read he bought it in 2002. Also there seems to be several model differences like F7/ F8

Would be great if someone can set me straight on the RC200/300 series and possibly help me date my frame

- If I could be cheeky and ask the same about the RC suspension forks series as would love to pick up a set of those to

Thanks guys

Re: Recent purchase , info requested if possible please

Thanks, Im getting conflicting info though. Is it an F4 or F7/8 ? what are the differences, how can you tell ?

Am I right in thinking its from 1993 ?

Couldn't see anything about the red edition, there was some pictures of them but nothing written about them….

Re: Recent purchase , info requested if possible please

Serial numbers can give the game away without pictures.

F4 start well F4 normally.

Get some seatclamp pictures etc.
I don't know enough about them to tell you straight out. But my RC200 F3 was originally the red colour and I've seen later F series in the red colour too.

1993, no they span the whole of the 90's depending on the F number, they incremented over time as design slightly altered upto ~2002 with the F8 being the last.

if it's got a 1-1/8" oversized headtube then it'll be at least an F6, 1" came on the model before that.

Disc tabs started on the F7 (I think it was on the F7 that had the tab between the stays like yours?) I would ignore the dropouts as they could have been changed.

Re: Recent purchase , info requested if possible please

If you go to the bottom of this a Team Issue F7/F8 red thing. I think that'll be what yours is.
What Team Issue means I don't know.
But note the disc tab (again I think that an F7 position, F8 I remember someone telling me they moved to the seat stay on the outside)

EDIT to add searching PACE RC200 F7 Team bring up loads of links
here's a nice one
viewtopic.php?t=207934

Serial should be F7xxXXX xx frame size ? XXX production number.
viewtopic.php?t=20895

and google searches bring the date up to be around 1998.

Re: Recent purchase , info requested if possible please

serial number is WR18***

Seat clamp fixing bolt is external and fixes to the top tube.

There are no TEAM markings on the bike, from what you guys have said and what I've read I think this might be an F8 -

Im pretty happy that is has rear disc mounts on it as I thought that was the idea behind the RC300?

Re: Recent purchase , info requested if possible please

The style of the seat clamp changed and may help someone (was thinking more F3/F4 though) all fixed like that as far as I know.

The known F8 had XC or F8 at the start (serial thread link I gave)
the WR might be significant.
Only other WR was a RC250 Trials bike, I don't think it is that but could mean it's a special build ?
Who knows.

I still think F7 NOT F8 due to the disc tab position.

....also a quick search on F8's shows some serious headtube butting, extra main frame tube butting etc.. which yours does not have.

Probably my old frame, justbackdated (ex Pace employee) explained that WR frame numbers were Warranty Repair replacing BB shell due to cracked chainstay or seat tube.

Re: Recent purchase , info requested if possible please

Looks good, what size headset does it take?If its 1",its an f4,f5,as I have both.
That will give you the answer,I have one of these, exactly the same, but, its an f4,that's had the chainstay disc mount added and been anodised red to look like a team, and has the same decals as yours.
My f4 has a round seat tube, but the upper part, above the top tube is square as is the seat clamp, yours looks to have the rounded seat clamp, like my f5.
I bought mine for peanuts 4 years ago on ebay, listed as a team, but I knew it wasn't going by the listing.
I hope you get it built, and use it as intended, they are great.frames and make you want to ride fast all the time.
