Rear mech knackered thread....Helicoil????

Hello
Just finished the frame to find the rear mech thread is knackered. Has anyone helicoiled
one of these threads before or is there another repair?

Changing the drop out in NOT an option.

You can get a top hat arrangement thing (dropout saver?)
Drill out the thread, then it fits in from the inside, it looks rather like the inside half of a chainring bolt.

Yes this is an option or the helcoil, both require drilling out.

Are helicoils available in that thread size?

Would it be possible to chop off the drop out and fit a replaceable alloy one?

Drop out saver sounds like the simpolest and cheapest optuon.

You may be able to fit a nut (it would have to be slim) on the inside of the hanger to hold the derailleur.

I've fitted a frame saver nut, works a trea.
Failing that Helicoil sets are available.

£7 vs £11 so nut much in it. Helicoil kit is far cheaper than i expected and gives neater solution, is the one id have gone for.
