Rear derailleur

Anyone have any idea why my rear derailleur is so far forward? I'm used to them pointing down. It seems to point further forward the higher the gear I use. Any advice is greatly appreciated

Obvious one is that the chain is too short.

As for those jockey wheels, they look more like ninja stars from shinobi

Guessing that will cause havoc in the long term

Might struggle to get in the higher gears if you’re in the big ring up front. Regardless it’s not advisable to stretch the chain across the gearing anyway.

Are you running a front mech and gears?

Yes. It sometimes takes a couple of pushes of the lever to get the gears to go up and down. I only use the big ring
