Re:

I've had a few bikes but I really fell for the Jap strokers, Ah the smell, the blue haze, the induction noise and best of all the disapproval :D

My two favourite rides? Rd400e with gun carriage wheels and later when I got interested in off roading a DT400.

On the bucket list are any Suzy or Kawasaki triples. Oh why did I look at this thread.

See the odd triple around these parts. Unmistakeable noise. A bit like the (also triple) Honda NS400R one of my friends had. And some air cooled RD 400/250s as well . There's a dealer whose name escapes me, who imports some of these old bikes from the U.S.A.
I felt quite proud when it took the Rozzers longer to catch me on my TZR250, than him when we opened them up

Re:

Good news re my Suzuki GT250 on p4 of this thread: I got my mojo back with the bike and now seem to have the engine moving again with new pistons in. Carbs & exhausts back on, so going to give it a test fire-up tomorrow. However I have a question: Will it run on standard unleaded petrol, or will I need to put some kind of additive in. I guess as it hasn't run since around 1976, it would have been tuned for Four Star??

That's interesting, thanks for the info. I think I'll just give it a go and see what happens. Just to get it running in any condition will be a start...

Unleaded will be fine in that. The lead was only for the valves on those nasty 4 stroke engines.

Had nasty fuel leak from lh carb when kicking over. Taken both carbs apart. Cleaned out all jets etc. New gaskets in. Will try again on Sat. Fingers crossed...
