Hi All,

Just been quoted £52 by my LBS to respoke a wheel. I feel that is quite a lot. Maybe i could do it myself, one at a time

Is there a source of spokes of the correct length here, or on the bay? Could anyone ( in the S.E )?

Any help greatfully received

I would charge £16 for new Sapim Race spokes and nipples + £35 for de build and rebuild. So a similar price. Some shops would charge more!.

Just paid £160 for a building up a pair of wheels with hubs I provided (Pelissier high flange). Price included Mavic Open Sport rims and DT double butted spokes (72 x).

A bit hacked off because the estimated price was £100 ! (The last time I used that LBS !)

There's a great guy in SE London called Arup. He's cheap as chips and he runs wheel building classes too.

Best bet is just to do it as best you can then pay to have it trued, you can buy spokes off ebay.

Last time i did it someone on here sent me a link to a website that sold single spokes because i had only snapped a single spoke, wound up needing three because i snapped two more whilst truing. I would try find the site again but it was quite a while back i'm sure someone will know, they were about 50p a spoke i think from memory i might be wrong though.

edit: here is a site selling spokes various prices
