Done a bit of searching but couldn't find the answer so apologies if this has been covered before. Has anyone managed to successfully get a Pace frame re-anodised? The frame I have could do with a new lease of life as there is a bit of surface corrosion in a few places (see pics below). Before I start a nationwide hunt for an anodiser with a tank big enough for a frame I wondered if anyone had any experience of doing this?

Wow, has it been stored in salt-water? :?

That is really quite bad corrosion for aluminium, it's gonna take some prep to get those tubes in a fit state to anodise. If the alloy is not a clean, smooth finish the ano will look awful.

I'd actually be somewhat concerned over the structural integrity of the frame and whether it's worth restoring...

yes , it can be done , I have seen several frames done ( in france , so must be possible in the uk ) .

but , the prep needs to be spot on to get best finish .

BITD I saw a number of RC200's refinished via pace so yes it is possible.

Doesnt look too bad and should re finish nicely if you can find the big tank.

We've got a set of 20 x 900,000 litre anodising tanks in work might do it  but you'd have to move a set of Airbus 340 wings to get the frame in

I sent mine up to Custom Colour Anodising in Barnoldswick. Seem like really nice blokes, I'll let you know what sort of job they did when it gets back - should be this week, subject to postmen actually bothering to work...

Excellent, please post some pics to this thread once you've got it back.

An update: still not got the frame back, but promised for 'this week' - as it was last week.

I guess this will always be a problem for small 'cash' jobs, that they will get bumped, or agregated with other bigger orders to get the economies of scale.

Missing my baby!!!
