Rc 36 Evo 3. Crown race and oil seals. Advice needed please

Hi,
just bought the above fork from ebay.
It has a 1 1/8 steerer as I wanted, however the bottom of the steerer tube isn't fatter like normal so the crown race is to large.
The id of the crown race is 30.0mm and the od of the steerer is 28.5mm.
I have many headsets but all the 1 1/8 are 30mm id, how do I get this fork onto my bike?

Secondly the oil seal at the bottom of the left leg doesn't seem to be very sealed. It hisses out air when the fork is compressed and the fork feels like there's no damping (no oil).
How hard is that to replace and is it an expensive thing to be doing?

Thanks
Elma

Thanks,
sorted the steerer thing I think.
Seems that mines been cut below the circlip then inserted the wrong way.
Need a new steerer tube and I'll be laughing.

Re seals, I'm not to worried about doing them, I did some Z2's last night.
Just want to be aware of the pitfalls before I get going.
Thanks fopr advice though, I may end up contacting the expert.

Firstly, you need a crown race shim for your steerer.

The bolt in pace steerers don't bulge out at the bottom, there is a separate shim which slides over them to fit the crown race.

Secondly, ...don't know about the seal, the Evo 3 is after my time.

Tim (justbackdated) should be able to sort you out with both.
