Already now nice entries. I like bikes with cables ''in the air''. :D That are the real oldies. Retro Classic.

Peugeot Comete

OK, so I've seen the posts about lack of pedals, poor photography etc. and decided my photo didn't do the bike justice! The weather was perfect tonight on my way home, so I couldn't help but make some bike porn.

The restoration was on very small budget (around £59), as the bike was always intended by Peugeot to be a low-cost club racer. Hopefully, the photos will show that even though the components were low end, their quality has helped them survive nicely.

The bike now weighs 19lb, without any fancy upgrades. Everything on the bike is factory stock, apart from the Acor duel pivot brakes, which IMHO, suit the frame perfectly and perform great (£11.95!). During 12 years of London commuting I only had to replace the cassette, chain, chain rings and brake blocks in almost 20,000 miles. During the recent restoration I replaced the tired saddle with a Charge Spoon and added new bar tape, brake cables and outers. The rims are original with the dents being removed in my bench vice then trued and the tyres are only the second pair in 25 years!

Still on the hunt for some decent 105 aero hoods, so please let me know if you have some going spare.

It's now my daily commuter, until the weather turns bad - then I'll be on my '97 Lava Dome! ;)

Oh, and I still tape my bars top to bottom! I blame Mike Price (Cyclewise) as I used to watch him build his bikes for hours as a kid!
