Rattle Can Paint

Re:

Tried it myself a few times. Was always disappointed with the result. Slowly slowly, thin layer by layer and wait for the previous one to dry before applying the next. Never had the patience required. Best of luck.

Re:

I purchased a airbrush and compressor to do small repairs as it is then possible to carefully mask decals spray right up to them then blend all your repairs before spraying aerosol clear lacquer over the whole lot. when using an airbrush you have total control of where and how much paint you apply.
I have one like this and a small compressor

Re:

On a car if you are very careful you can brush the colour in, then lacquer once dry and very carefully flat the lacquer down and polish it to a shine and it will hide a repair very well. However I'm not sure how thick bike lacquer is.

Also for reference there are metallic RAL colours, mainly silvers.

I need to paint the forks on a bike I have just brought if I can match the colour.

Wow, that Trek is impressive.

Paint is arriving today. TBH I still need to remove a very stuck crank arm & the probably very stuck bottom bracket before progressing further.

Need to get into that action. What type of paint would you use in that? Where would you purchase from?

The paint I use solvent based from my local Auto paint supplies who mix it in small amounts (Match pot size)
I also use an aerosol blending agent .

I use the blending spray go over the old paint and the new area to blend the two together ,you have to go easy with this as too much eats into both new and old paint.you just want a nice sheen . Just let it dry then it can be lacquered .
I sometimes use paint from an aerosol if it is the colour I want I spray it into a container then pour it into the airbrush and spray the tricky bits.
