does anyone know what the connection is between Rastafarianism and mountain bikes, e.g Salsa et al using the rasta colours for bikes components clothing etc,

It seems to have been going on from pretty much from the beginning, I know the Marin Clunkers smoked a bit and had hippy type sympathies and values, but where does the connection with Rasta come in,

Missy Giove also springs to mind with her dreads and liking for weed

sorry if its been asked before or is common knowledge but its been troubling me for some time

just did and does fit the culture man awlays has   ps just call me the dude ;)  plus everyone loes rasta ano coloursa they rock max coolfactor to the power of rad  :D

on a serious note i havn't a clue but dude its cool so lets stick with it  rasta power plus we all like 'erb'

I think it's just that the inherent 'earthyness' of mountainbiking appeals to such folk, and vice versa. I had 6ft dreads all bound up, and was often called a 'white Rasta' but wasn't, nor was I a hippy really either. I grew dreads because they befitted my love of nature and simple, rustic living -and expressed a rejection of fasion/consumerism.
Rasta's like a bit of the 'natural' and relate to bicycles - the association's always gonna be cool to many MTBers
