Rare Specialized RockCombo

Heavy

Retro Guru
Just starting to think about considering the idea of selling my 1989 Specialized RockCombo.

Its had a full restoration but everything except paint, bar tape and tyres is original.

I think it's a a great bike in fantastic condition. The only think worth mentioning is a couple of pinholes in the chainstay.

As an early precursor to the gravel bike / monster cross, made for only one year, obviously a pretty rare bike and probably quite difficult to value, but what do people think?

Re:

Can’t believe no replies from this post....

Bought a project build off Heavy today to help his slight cull.

What a nice guy.

I saw this bike in the flesh and gotta say that it’s pretty awesome!
I love it but wouldn’t sell it.... unless to me at some point

Cheers Prezza, Good to see the Stumpy go to an appreciative home.

The RockCombo is stunning & I'm glad you liked it. I think with it being such an obscure & niche bike, its difficult to value.

You mention a couple of pinholes in the chainstay. Sounds worrying!

Re:

It is what it is I guess Raidan. I inspected them when the frame was stripped and decided i was happy to go ahead. I'm a heavy bloke and it's been fine. They're not very noticeable but I'd never sell anything without full disclosure.

Re:

Cheers Mat, i put a lot of effort into getting the right parts and making the right choices - I'm really pleased with the result.

Yeah looks great, is that new paint?
I have a couple in my restore queue... :)

Re:

Powder, Bettablast near the Tyne Tunnel did a lovely job - far better than other places I've seen. I've got two more bikes ready to go up there once we can travel.

Ah ok, looks good.

I have a original complete Ivory/Turquoise one with very good original paint but my all white one was rough so had it powdercoated recently with new decals from Retrodecals, on the hunt for a few parts to complete soon! ;)
