My ALVES BIKE built by Charlie Ralph MUST GO, as I’m too old to use it now and I need to clear my storage room ASAP – in Reynolds 653 tubed ALVES time trial / road racing bike with its original paint finish (no dings, but has some scuffs and light scrapes with normal use), in good working order and reasonable condition. First £475 takes away. Originally stamped on BB for Carl David Radford of Nairn dated June 1993 Sold via MacRetro JIMO746 years back and still used by the now 81st Ian Curphey needing to go towards a new e-bike….. Dimensions are: Seat tube = 21” (535mm) from centre of BB to centre of TT; Top Tube = 20 ½ ’’ (520mm) from centre of HT to centre of ST; Wheelbase = 37 7/8” (960mm); Standover = 32” (810mm). Frame has Shimano drop offs, brazed on cable eyes, D/T gear lever fixings, S/T front changer hanger and T/T concealed rear brake cable route. Fitted with a Stronglight Headset. Bike weighs 22 ½ lbs approximately. My current set up suits 5’ 10” but there is scope for adjustment for a shorter or slightly longer person. 1990’s Period Equipment Details are: SR Royal taper axle BB with SR Royal Double 175mm alloy cranks (Campagnolo Strada lookalike) with a single 44t Campagnolo ring; Campagnolo alloy aero road pedals with integral clips and straps; Campagnolo Rally (Nouvo Record with extended range) 6 speed rear changer; 3 3/8” (85mm) SR Royal alloy stem with 15 ½” (395mm) wide Modulo Tr-GT alloy bars; 27.2mm Fluted Campagnolo alloy seat pillar; Rolls San Marco leather faced saddle; Campagnolo Super Record side pull brakes with concealed allen key fixings (new unused Campagnolo blocks now fitted) with drilled and chamfered levers, complete with Campagnolo hoods; Wheels - Campagnolo Record Small Flange Q/R hubs (with Tipo Skewers), 36 / 36 S/S spokes on anodised Aero 700cc rims. Currently fitted with wide ratio 6 speed block and Schwalbe Lugano Blue Active tyres. Ready for sale by someone with a serious interest and cycling away an outstanding example by an enthusiastic bike collector, who can maintain and continue the ALVES heritage.
