SID Dual Air.
Still very nice.

2000 was the last year for 1" steerers I think, in very limited numbers. Wanted these for my Bonty Ti but spent a fortune on Pace rc 31 instead. :? still very tempted

I want for exactly the same reason, but if these are 100mm (they look it) they are too long, add to that they dont have the additional rake of the originally specced judy

Hi folks,
Lots of good chat about sids except the sh1t chat...very poor.

However I have some 63/80mm sid xc,s with 1.1/8" steerer 195mm long 1999 model formally attached to my 98 M2 S works.

Rockshox did make a twin crown SID XL 100MM in red which I also have in the loft somewhere.

If anyone is interested in them and for pics mail me at cammykt@ukonline.co.uk

thanks

Cameron

Notes

Agreed about the negative opinions in a For Sale thread - hardly good form. If we want to discuss subjective opinions then there's the rest of the forum for that...

Back to the thread at hand - firstly I'm no Rock Shox expert, but this is what I have found out to date about the 1999 SID range:

3 standard models:

SID XC 63/80mm
SID SL 63/80mm
SID XL 80/100mm triple clamp

Probably SLs - no decals to identify though - with the 80mm cartridge - although obviously one can retrofit a 63mm cartridge. If anyone knows how you can tell an XC from an SL and what the difference in spec is, please let us know...

As these are a customer highly tuneable fork, there's good grounds for mixed opinions on their performance - check this manual for the range of adjustments (if you like tweaking, then this is the fella!):

http://biketrail.318.nu/mek/manual/pdf/sidxcslxl99.pdf

Lastly, air pump adpaters for this model are still available from Amazon, believe it or not (!) for $3... :D

Can you measure the length from the Axle to crown for me please.

Forget the performance, they're blue, they're 1". :D

Cheers!

.

460mm centre of axle to the underside/base of the crown race - incidentally this goes down by 20mm when I sit on the bike (I weigh 12 1/2st)...
