I'm prettttty sure this is an 1987 Rocky Mountain Blizzard but not sure since the decal kit is Wrong... there's even a fork sticker on the frame

seems to be a bit of a monster mash of parts... I'm not sure what that stem is... I have a rocky mountain fillet brazed stem on my Fat City Flyer (came off a Thunderbolt) but this one looks a bit different... it has the same lower noodle but only one "ritchey force" style clamp bolt as opposed to Rocky's two clamp bolt design... ??

Also looks like a brodie bar end...? only one though.. drat! :D

Any input?... :? :D

How about a Canadian Ritchey? ;)

It looks like that's the original white paint, so I agree, it's probably an 87 Blizzard.
Nice that you got a fillet brazed stem with it!
I would compare the serial # to your black one and see if they are close.

Now if only it was the sloping top tube model, those ones are even more rare!

Re:

Thanks you too! Hmmm i think you are both right... Since the white paint is prob original it's probably a blizzard but it's probably a Toyo built blizzard on which case it's the exact same frame as the ritchey... Check out the 105 headset with crazy spacers on the Ritchey! Exact same crazy setup on my white one!! Must both be the same manufacturer... Toyo probably shipped them to Canada with the 105 headset installed..

The other blizzard is long gone and unfortunately I forgot to write down the serial number...

Yea! Anyone know if this is indeed a Rocky Mountain fillet brazed stem? Or is it off a Ritchey?

Both Ritchey and Ricky's in 87 came with that big funky bull horn thingie bar / stem combo so I don't know if this is original to the frame or not...

My bro had a Rocky/Ritchey - I think it was a Force which was the equivalent of the Fusion in the Rocky Line. Grey frame with a yellow fork. I think it was an 87 or an 88. Rear U-brake version like the frame you post here. Funny I was riding it one day off the ferry at Tsawassen and I ran into a guy who asked me how I liked the bike and then told me he worked for Rocky and that they built it. I always assumed that he meant that they welded the frame up in the local factory, but I guess I misunderstood him.

If you want to offload the stem then I'm your man!

I'm going to hold onto it for now... Thanks though! I have let a few rare items go over the past two years and I'm afraid I'll never see them again =). It may be a while, but eventually I'll find an old thunderbolt and this stem will be perfect for it. Are you after it because it's fillet brazed or because it's 1" with noodle?
